Eating Out
Whatever your taste, you’ll find somewhere great to eat in Windermere or the surrounding areas, from traditional local pubs to fine dining and Michelin starred restaurants such as L’Enclume in Cartmel, there’s something for everyone. We really like Francine’s in Windermere, a traditional bistro style restaurant serving excellent seafood, steak and vegetarian options. The Lamplighter Dining Rooms is a 15 minute walk from the cottage on Windermere High Street, here you’ll find a restaurant and lounge bar serving local produce, traditional pub food and Sunday Lunch.
If you’re looking for fine dining then you might enjoy The Samling (one of Tim’s favourites!) just up the road, or The Drunken Duck Inn and Restaurant at Ambleside. The Forest Side in Grasmere is also highly recommended
Eating In
Fancy a night in – enjoy a takeaway, Fish and Chips by the lake perhaps, Chinese from the Golden Mountain or the Magic Wok, delicious tandoori from the Prince of India, or a pizza or wrap from Popeye’s whilst enjoying a view of the Lake from the open plan living area within the cottage. On a sunny evening take advantage of the table for two directly outside the cottage and enjoy dinner alfresco! The fully equipped kitchen at The Lady of the Lake is perfect for guests wishing to enjoy local produce and make the most of self catering. For fresh local produce delivered direct to your door, place an order with A Day’s Walk.
