FAQs

Below you will find answers to our most frequently asked questions – if you have a question about anything prior to your booking or during your stay please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Is The Lady of the Lake suitable for Children?

The Lady of the Lake is ideally suited to couples and individuals, however we have welcomed single parents, and families with one child previously. In 2020 we had two bookings with babies under 6 months who brought their own travel cot and equipment. Due to the layout and space (with a king size bed in the bedroom there is not space for a travel cot), and the TV in the snug, they opted to use the open plan living area for their travel cot. We appreciate this might not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with toddlers who may climb out of the cot! A slightly older child may be fine on the sofa bed in the snug – please contact us to discuss before booking. We don’t advertise as being suitable for children but we are happy to consider, if you feel it would be a suitable option.

Is The Lady of the Lake suitable for 2 friends traveling together?

Yes, The Lady of the Lake has a king-size bed in the bedroom and also a sofa bed in the snug/dressing room (180cm x 106cm) which is suitable for one person (additional charges apply), please contact us prior to booking to discuss your requirements.

Is The Lady of the Lake suitable for 3 Adults?

The Lady of the Lake is ideally suited to 2 adults sharing the king-size bed, and our prices are based on this. We feel the cottage wouldn’t be ideally suited to 3 adults as everything is geared up for 2 (dining table/sofa etc) and the snug also doubles up as a dressing room/place to put bags so it probably wouldn’t be ideal to have another adult sleeping in there.

How far away is the nearest Pub?

There are several traditional pubs and Bars just a 15 minute walk from The Lady of the Lake, in Windermere.

How far away if the nearest Restaurant?

You will find several restaurants within walking distance. Windermere is approx 15 minutes and Bowness approx 25-30 minute walk. There’s also a good selection of take-aways and delivery options. See our Places to Eat section for some suggestions.

We want to fully self cater would this be possible at The Lady of the Lake?

Yes. The Lady of the Lake has a fully equipped kitchen, including Oven/Hob, Microwave, Full size Fridge/Freezer and Dishwasher. There’s also cutlery, pots and pans etc. The new dining table has plenty of space and there’s also the option to dine alfresco with a view of the lake (table for 2 directly outside the cottage – the cottage faces south west so it’s a lovely place to sit on a sunny afternoon/evening).

We have lots of suitcases, is there plenty of storage?

The Lady of the Lake is a cosy cottage (total measurement 36m2). We have done our best to address storage options – there is a chest of drawers in the bedroom, a small wardrobe (new for 2021) in the snug/dressing room, and some shelf space in the kitchen (plenty of space in the fridge for food items). Guests with large suitcases may choose to leave cases and some items in the car to create more space in the cottage. The majority of guests manage fine, (please check the floorplan prior to booking). The cottage is a perfect base and location to explore The Lakes.

Can I charge my EV at The Lady of the Lake?

We are having an EV charge point (7.5kW) installed in January 2022. The EV charge point will be available for guests staying at the cottage and will be accessible via a pin (additional charges will apply). The charge point will operate via an app and be able to calculate the amount of power used – we will confirm pricing prior to each use. The nearest rapid charge point (65kW) to The Lady of the Lake is just 1 mile away at Booths. For those with a PHEV who are unable to use the rapid charge point or prefer the convenience of charging outside the cottage, we are able to offer charging (2.5kW), please let us know if this is something you require during your stay and we will be happy to facilitate this (we are currently operating an honesty policy whereby guests just pay for the additional power they use for vehicle charging – we will confirm the unit rate prior to use).

Is there secure parking at The Lady of the Lake?

There is an allocated parking space directly next to the cottage, which is covered by CCTV for security and to prevent unauthorised parking, so that the space remains available for our guests -we ask guests to provide their registration number ahead of arrival.
